Which bulb should I buy?
- Just need it working again? Buy the standard halogen in the same size. It's cheap, it's legal everywhere, and it takes five minutes.
- Want to see better at night without messing with anything? Step up to a brighter halogen. Same plug, more light, no wiring.
- Want the white, modern look? Go LED. Great for fog, reverse, plate and interior lights. For headlights, LED bulbs in a housing built for halogen can throw glare, so aim them after you install and check your state's rules before running them on the street.
Our picks by bulb size
9003 (fog light front, headlight high beam)
2825 (center high mount stop light, license plate light, trunk or cargo area light and more)
- Halogen: Sylvania 194 SilverStar (2 bulbs)
- LED: LASFIT 194 LED (2 pcs)
For brake lights and turn signals, match the LED color to the lens: red behind a red lens, amber for turn signals.
While you're in there
- Cloudy headlights? New bulbs won't fix a yellowed lens. A replacement housing makes a bigger difference than any bulb: see Volkswagen Passat headlights at NTXGlow.
- Tail lights faded or cracked? Volkswagen Passat tail lights at NTXGlow.
